Silicon Valley CCE Releases Technical Study

The Silicon Valley Community Choice Energy Partnership has just completed a technical study to determine whether Community Choice Energy is feasibile for Santa Clara County, and what kind of rate structures the program can choose to implement.  The technical study report is on their website, here.  They will also be presenting the results at a series of informational meetings.  Find a meeting near you, here.  Then, make sure your city is on board!!  For how and when to contact your city council members, check here.

Mountain View Adopts Climate Protection Roadmap

On September 17, 2015 the Mountain View City Council adopted a Climate Protection Roadmap (CPR) for its community.  The CPR establishes greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets in 5 year increments through the year 2050, which culminates in 80% reductions below 2005 levels.  It also lists a series of actions and strategies City Council can undertake to reach its GHG reduction targets.

Sierra Club Survey: CCE is #1

In Septembber 2014, the Loma Prieta Chapter of the Sierra Club released the results of their Local Government Climate Action Survey 2014.  It is a survey of cities in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, looking at a host of actions cities are taking or considering in order to address climate change.  One of the most interesting findings in the study is that if a city adopts CCE (Community Choice Energy, referred to as Community Choice Aggregation or CCA in this study), this will have a bigger effect than all other actions combined in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.  Read their whole report here:
